About

"Flipswitch: For Teens & 20s" was made possible by a generous grant from The Rodwell Dart Memorial Foundation. Flipswitch was previously named depressedteens.com. Flipswitch's purpose is to provide valuable information and educational resources that will help teenagers, their parents and educators understand the signs and symptoms of teenage depression and get help when needed.

History of CABF's Teen Programs

The idea for depressedteens.com and the DVD, Day for Night: Recognizing Teen Depression came from Hailey Dart, a mother from Aspen, Colorado who lost her son Roddy, who sufferered from manic depression (bipolar disorder) on his 22nd birthday. After her son’s death, Mrs. Dart began a personal crusade to educate the public, especially other teens, about depression and related mood disorders.

Depressedteens.com and "Day for Night" were developed by the Depression and Related Affective Disorders Association (DRADA), a Baltimore-based non-profit which united the efforts of individuals with affective disorders, family members, mental health professionals, and others. In 2007, DRADA requested that the Child and Adolescent Bipolar Foundation (CABF) carry on its mission of educating teens by taking ownership of the site and distributing the DVD.

Depressedteens.com was relaunched February 17, 2010 as "Flipswitch: For Teens & 20s". Hailey Dart continues to be a proud supporter of CABF's teen programming.
