About
Depressedteens.com was established to provide valuable information and educational resources that will help teenagers and their parents and educators understand the signs and symptoms of teenage depression and get help when needed.
History of Day for Night: Recognizing Teenage Depression
The idea for Day for Night came from Hailey Dart, a mother from Aspen, Colorado who lost her son Roddy, a sufferer of manic depression, on his 22nd birthday. After her son’s death, Mrs. Dart began a personal crusade to educate the public, especially other teens, about depression and related mood disorders.
Depressedteens.com and "Day for Night" were developed by the Depression and Related Affective Disorders Association (DRADA), a Baltimore-based non-profit uniting the efforts of people with affective disorders, family members, mental health professionals, and others. In 2007, DRADA requested that the Child and Adolescent Bipolar Foundation (CABF) carry on its mission of educating teens by taking ownership of the site and distributing the DVD.
CABF is a web-based nonprofit organization providing information and support to teens affected by mood disorders, parents, and educators. For more information about CABF, please visit www.bpkids.org.
