Before showing Day for Night© (and
implementing supplemental activities)
- Decide how you want to use Day for Night (link to suggestions for use page & links to activities)
- Notify school administration of your intent
to use Day for Night©
- Gain administrative approval
(if necessary)
- Check school policy regarding family notification
for classes on mental health issues.
- Notify parents/guardians in accordance
with school policy (link to parent letter)
- Alert school counselor about your plans
to use Day for Night©
- Identify school and local resources for
students (link to referral page)
- Familiarize yourself with supplemental
activities.
- Review procedures for maintaining confidentiality
in the classroom.
After showing Day for Night© (and
implementing supplemental activities)
- Follow up with the class a week after completing
this unit: ask if anyone has questions or comments.
- Offer to meet with any student who has
personal questions or concerns.
- Remind students that the school counselor is available to answer students personal questions or concerns.
- Remind students about local and national resources.
- Follow up with school counselor regarding any students about whom you have concerns.
- Review/refer to unit content when appropriate
in the future.

about Suicide Prevention or Violence Prevention. This
film is not intended for use in Suicide Prevention Programming
or Violence Prevention Education.
